Blairgowrie & Rattray Charrette

We were invited again by DPT Urban Design to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team providing architectural design input to a three day engagement workshop involving local groups, charities, businesses and open to the general public.

The Charrette was delivered as part of The Scottish Government funded SSCI Charrette Mainstreaming Programme for Scottish Town Centers. The team consisted of: architects, urban designers, landscape architects, financial consultants, road & transport consultants, tourism consultants, and heritage consultants.

The workshop aimed to assist the community to consider the existing Blairgowrie Town Center, adjacent Rattray village and the surrounding landscape to explore current challenges facing both areas and identify potential opportunities to improve existing physical, social, economic, cultural and heritage links between the two areas serving one community.

The project utilised the newly developed ‘Place Standard’ as a tool for capturing feedback from the community and prompting dialogue as part of the open workshops. The output from the event and subsequent analysis formed the basis of a Report outlining potential routes to implementing some of the ideas captured through; short, medium and longer term strategic planning.
